Though I have been leaning towards more agrarian music of late, there is still something very special about Detroit based Frontier Ruckus, who display remnants of Cake with a hip hillbilly twist. The combination of the lyrical meandering of Milia's verse, Jones' banjo plucking and the unorthodox saw playing of Zachary Nichols will appeal to the faintest of music lovers. Both their
debut and
sophomore albums are out now and demand a listen.
